Social media are interactive technologies that enable the creation and sharing of information, ideas, hobbies, and other kinds of expression via virtual communities and networks. While there are challenges to the definition of social media due to the variety of stand-alone and built-in social media services currently available, social media can still be defined as a means of interaction among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.
